Trips around water

Water, that has shaped the valleys, the mountains and the cliffs, is an inseparable part of the Pyrenees. Its presence becomes the essence of some of the most beautiful mountain chain landscapes and it is part of the hikers imaginary.

Undoubtedly, the Pyrenees are water-mountains: glaciers, snow, waterfalls, rivers... all of them are elements that define the mountain chain and that let us enjoy marvellous trips in summer. Paths that guide us to lakes with incredible views, that let us stand in the foothills of millenary glaciers or enjoy astonishing waterfalls and purely fresh rivers and streams.

Alba gorges and botanical path

Easy circular route, fit and proper for all the family, that goes through a beech forest. It is almost a short walk of barely 130 meters vertical drop that can be completed in around an hour and in which you will discover or recognise many trees and bushes species, since it is a genuine botanical path, guided by identification signs. The most outstanding feature of the path is the spectacular waterfall formed by the Ésera River.

Escarpinosa lake

Given its location in the foothills of Perramó peak and the fact that is surrounded by black pines, the hike to Escarpinosa lake is one of Posets-Maladeta Nature Park essential routes.

Forau d'Aigualluts

The visit to Aigualluts lets enjoy one of the most relevant karstic phenomenon in the Pyrenees. A thunderous and crystalline waterfall plunges into an enormous drain enclosed in a bucolic meadow landscape.

Eriste - Tramarríus Bridge - Espigantosa waterfall - Refugio de Ángel Orús

This path, that runs through Eriste Valley, faces down an eminent vertical drop until arriving to Ángel Orús mountain refuge located in Forcau peaks foothills and the starting point of multiple routes such as Posets peak hike.

Literola small lake

Lliterola is apparently a short and wide valley that runs into the principal valley at the height of Baños de Benasque. It rises in Lliterola mountain pass at around 3,000 meters high and it is fringed by peaks such as Perdiguero (3,221 meters) or Cabrioules (3,116 meters).

Gorgutes lake

This lake of glacier origin is located at the foothills of Puerto de la Glera, one of the ancient mountain passes used to join Spain and France. It stands out for the beauty of Maladeta massif panoramic views.

Las tres cascadas outing

This beautiful and easy route that starts in Cerler village leads to one of the most wonderful hideouts of the region, the three waterfalls of Ardonés or Bom.
