Departing from Benasque, take the road A-139 towards Llanos del Hospital in the North. 9 km away, turn right to Baños de Benasque. After 600 meters, you will find Hotel Turpi and a parking lot next to it where you can park the car.
Crossing the Ésera River’s bridge, you will find an information board on the left where the path begins at approximately 1,540 meters high. After some minutes walking, there is a small waterfall (Barranco de Aigües Pases) and you will find some more along the way. Half an hour after beginning the route, you will go deep into a beech forest —gorgeous during this season—, that reaches its maximum altitude at 1,570 meters. At that point, where the route branches off, you will find two boards: one that takes you to the beech forest and another that leads you to the Alba gorges. Choose the first one for a short circular itinerary throughout the forest enjoying the autumn colours and going back to the same point to continue towards Alba gorges. It won’t take you more than ten minutes and it is worth enjoying the walk through trees, fallen leaves and ochre, yellow and reddish forest colour scheme.
From the information boards, the route to Alba gorges crosses a metal footbridge over Ésera River and, at that point, you will start enjoying the first views of Alba gorges. There is a path that will lead you to the lower viewpoint and another one to the upper one. Enjoy the visual and sound water spectacle!
The way back, perfectly signalled, will lead you to the parking lot in around 20 minutes. A total of one hour route, or ten minutes more if you go into the beech forest.
