This sport provides a different point of view of nature; from the top, you can observe all its magnificence.
According to some mountaineers, paragliding was originated at the end of the XX century as a development of the tedious summit descents. The idea of this superb aircraft came from some mountaineers who wanted to fly down from the achieved summits on board a parachute. During the seventies, several experiments were carried out in order to improve it, becoming a sport later on.
It didn’t fail to arrive to Castejón de Sos, where the first paragliding school of Spain was established in the mid-eighties. Ever since, the practice of this sport has gained momentum and this village has got a foothold as the air capital, becoming the headquarters of the World Paragliding Championship in 1992 and welcoming Spanish championships such as Copa Pirineos, one of the most remarkable air festivals in our country. The time elapsed since then has positioned this valley as a unique destination for paragliding, because enthusiasts of this sport know well that Benasque Valley is a paradise for them and for other flying lovers (hang glider, ultra light flights...). Its location, in a valley protected of the wind by the Aneto and Posets massifs, confers a series of ideal characteristics to fly over it.
This is the easiest and safest way to get in touch with this sport and enjoy a unique freedom experience. It is suitable for everyone, from children to senior, and it requires a bigger certified paraglider in order to carry two people at once, the passenger and a qualified instructor.
These courses consist of introductory, progression or perfection training aimed at inexperienced people who want to take their first steps in its practice or for those who want to continue improving their skills.
