The Ribargorza’s town of Bisaurri is widely known for its reddish stone surroundings and it stands out for the locals and the landscape. Bisaurri municipality is made up by a great number of small towns and villages such as Bisaurri itself, Arasán, Dos, Gabás, Renanué, San Feliu de Veri, San Valero and Urmella.
In Bisaurri town, widely known for its reddish stone surroundings, the most remarkable building is the Parish Romanic origin church devoted to San Cristóbal which was restored during the 16th century. It is also worth visiting the Parish church of Renanué from the 12th century and the Santo Justo y Pastor monastery of Urmella that dates back to the 11th century.
But beyond the small towns and villages, the municipality hides other ancient treasures. The Trocs cave located in San Feliu de Veri is probably the most northern Neolithic cave in Aragón community and the findings reported in the site prove that seven thousand years ago the economy of our Neolithic ancestors was already based in the stockbreeding by combining the lowland pastures during the winter and the highland ones during the summer. These findings were published at the beginning of 2021 and underline the earliest transhumance evidence in Europe.
