Sesué

This town has turned itself from a traditional 19th century lifestyle into a tourist attraction.

Being the core of a rich stock tradition, Sesué has been subjected to time imposed changes. At the beginning of the 20th century, 3 of the living families (Casa Chinés, Casa Antonio and Casa Manuel) were devoted to the hemp growing and harvesting, along with the carpenter of Casa Vitorina, the bricklayer of Casa Manolo and the blacksmith of Casa Caseta. There was also a mill that was operational until the flood occurred in August 1963.

Over the last century, the town started to grow thanks to the setting up of Castellaso stone quarry and the building of the hydroelectric power plants by OCISA Company. The town’s landscape started to change and Sesué became a tourist core that can be enjoyed nowadays.

It is said that inside of it, there is a queen sepulchre. Though, Sos is a legends land and it is also said that Galino Galinás stole the chalice of a Moorish princess and, once he tried to escape, his chasers threw him so many stones that they created the enormous stone hillside of the Chía’s gravel.
